Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@songsweshare.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Songs We Share is a new business located in Edmonton, Alberta. Owner and Board Certified Music Therapist, Laura, provides in-home music services for seniors, with a focus on emotional connection, comfort, and dignity. Services include individualized music therapy, interactive performances, and adaptive music lessons.

This service is ideal for:

  • Seniors living at home
  • Individuals with memory loss or cognitive changes
  • Older adults experiencing loneliness, anxiety, or low mood
  • Families seeking meaningful, trustworthy enrichment beyond basic care

No musical ability is required — simply a willingness to listen, remember, or be present.

Sessions unfold at the client’s pace and may include listening to familiar music, singing together, gentle conversation, or simply being with sound and memory. There is no pressure to “perform” — comfort and emotional safety come first.

Many families find the most benefit with ongoing sessions (weekly, biweekly and monthly), as familiarity builds trust and deeper emotional response over time. Packages are designed to support this continuity.

That’s completely up to you.
Some families like to be involved, especially during early sessions, while others prefer the time to step away knowing their loved one is engaged and supported. Both options are welcome.

While my background includes music therapy training, these mini-concerts are non-clinical and focused on emotional well-being, connection, and quality of life. They are gentle, relational, and personalized rather than treatment-based.

That’s okay — and expected. Sessions adapt to mood, energy, and needs in the moment. Some days are quiet, some are joyful, and all are valuable.

Start with a call.  We’ll talk about your loved one, their music history, and what kind of support would feel most helpful right now.
